#WeStandWithFarmers

HELLO FRIENDS!

In India, farmers have been protesting on the Delhi border for 35 days for laws passed in September, giving big corporations more leverage to squeeze selling prices from the crops. This law is another addition to the already depressed farming sector, which reports many farmer suicides each day.

The Prime Minister gave another speech on his ‘Mann Ki Baat’  program on December 27, 2020, without even acknowledging the protesting farmers.

In their latest meeting with the farmers today, the Indian Government agreed to withdraw the rise in power tariff and penalties for stubble burning. However, these issues have nothing to do with the original three bills. The deadlock over these farm laws and a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) still continues. With no progress on these fronts, we realize that protests will be long and drawn out.

With a fierce winter so far and over 50 farmers having lost their lives already, their time in Delhi is not getting any bit easier. The farmers need blankets, warm clothes, medical aid, and much more.

Nishkam TV, in partnership with NESSC Gurdwara Sahib, is starting a fundraiser towards this goal, and we request your participation in it. We plan to use funds to provide supplies at the morcha, either directly or via an NGO on the ground (Khalsa Aid or United Sikhs). Additionally, these funds can be used to support families of Shaheeds or injured during this agitation.

Donations will be collected through the Gurdwara Sahib and will be tax-deductible for the year 2020. This year, the IRS provides a special $300 tax deduction towards charities even if you don’t itemize your deductions.

Punjab and Haryana farmers lead this effort, but their success will benefit all 60% of farmers across India.

This is our chance to empower the largest ever democratic protest in recent human history!
